Budget optimization preference on consultant requests

Written by Hanna Egeman

When you submit an consultant request, Fill asks you to make an explicit choice about budget optimisation — should Fill be allowed to lower your submitted budget if it helps fill the role, or do you want the budget you entered to stand?

Setting this preference up front means there's a clear record of what you agreed to, and Fill's Back Office team has an explicit signal on every request — fewer back-and-forth conversations, more confidence in the budget you see.

Your two options

  • Yes, allow optimisation — Your submitted budget may be adjusted to improve the chance of filling the role.

  • No, use submitted budget — Your budget is treated as the figure to work with.

How it works at submission

  1. Fill out the request as usual.

  2. When you click Submit, a dialog appears asking you to choose your budget optimisation preference.

  3. Select Yes, allow optimisation or No, use submitted budget.

  4. Submit. The request goes through with your preference recorded.

You can't submit an request without choosing, there's no default, so the choice is always intentional.

Resubmitting a rejected request

If you're resubmitting a request that was rejected previously, your earlier preference is pre-selected in the dialog. You can change it before submitting if your situation has changed.

Where the preference is visible

Your preference is shown on the IRFP request detail view so anyone with access can see how you'd like the budget handled. Three values are possible:

  • Allow optimiation

  • Use submitted budget

  • Not set — applies to older requests submitted before this preference existed
