Not every assignment starts from a request or contract flow inside Fill. When you already have ongoing engagements or agreements handled outside the platform, the +Add legacy assignment feature lets you record them manually, so Fill reflects your organisation's real-world situation from day one.
When should you use it?
Getting started in Fill with existing engagements
If your organisation already has ongoing or upcoming assignments, you can add them manually so you can:
Keep an accurate overview of who is engaged and when
Build correct tenure and assignment history
Avoid starting from a blank slate when you begin using Fill
When an agreement was handled outside Fill
If a contract has been signed outside the platform, or an assignment has already started for another reason, you can add it manually to ensure Fill still contains:
The correct assignment period (start and end dates)
The current status (for example, not started or ongoing)
The engagement history connected to the consultant

Adding an assignment manually is a way to record and manage the engagement in Fill when the process was initiated outside the platform. If you need a contract to be generated from Fill, it's recommended to use the platform's contract or extension flow rather than only adding the assignment.
